fine scottish leather

The world’s lowest carbon leather from the Muirhead family, powered by thermal energy.

World’s lowest carbon intensity leather using local raw hides, recovering energy from wastes, reducing waste to landfill and powered by thermal energy.

Only highest quality full-grain leather are used.

Rigorously tested for thickness, tear strength, color fastness and flexing endurance according to BS6608:1985 and EN-ISO 13336 tests.

The Muirhead family has been running their own tannery since 1840. Reputed for their superior performance and consistency, Muirhead is the biggest supplier of leather to the aviation and marine industry.

Muirhead leathers have been certified the lowest carbon intensity leather in the world by sourcing raw hides locally from neighbouring Scottish farms, recovering energy from waste and using only renewable energy. Their commitment to the highest sustainability, ethical animal husbandry makes us happy advocates of their fine leathers.

No waste goes to waste.

Everyday Muirhead saves about 100 tonnes of by-product from the beef industry from entering the landfills by transforming them into high quality leather. Remaining solid waste is then ushered into the thermal energy plant to create heat and oil that powers 40% of Muirhead’s production, while liquid waste is treated at an on-site facility and channeled back to the tannery. This minimises reliance on the local Loch.

Highly sought after as responsible manufacturers of superior leather, we are proud to have them as our exclusive partners in our mission of creating sustainable artisanal products ethically.
